Business Development Rep Scott Flint understands working from home better than most, as he’s based remotely full time! Learn a bit more about Scott with our latest ‘One minute with…’ blog.
Beth: So, Scott. You’ve been with us for over 6 months now. What does your average week involve?
Scott: Well, it’s kinda different at the moment due to (here comes the dreaded ‘c-word’) Covid-19! Up until lockdown, I mainly visited building sites in London that are either using our products already on site, or have the potential to. Generally trying to get an understanding of the needs of the customer.
Since lockdown, it has revolved around keeping in touch with customers and checking to make sure they are all ok! Both have been - and are - very enjoyable!
B: Good to hear! But what was your first ever job?
S: Depends on whether a holiday job is included or not?? If so, then it was to change plugs on power tools from European plugs to UK plugs – definitely tedious, but a skill to learn none-the-less!
If holiday jobs don’t count, then my first actual job was for a stationery and school supplies wholesaler. Half of the time I was out in the warehouse picking and packing orders. The other half, I spent in the marketing department, mainly on the creative side: producing catalogues, leaflets and other stuff!
A good platform for working life IMHO!
B: Wow that’s a cracking first job! (Yeah the second one, the first one sounds like a living nightmare).
You’ve been home-working since well-before covid-19 lockdown. Do you have any working from home tips for us (PLEASE SCOTT, HELP US)?
S: Haha! Ok. Couple things:
Sorry nothing exactly ground-breaking or trail-blazing!
B: No nothing drastic there but the advice is appreciated nonetheless.
What’s the best mid-morning snack?
S: Oooh… that’s a hard one… right now, anything that’s in the fridge, and as it happens, it’s cold leftover Chicken Jalfrezi! Hahah.
As for the best? I can’t decide between either a slice (or slices??) of mature cheddar with pesto on (has to be Basil Pesto from Purely Pesto), or Snappers which are a Canadian pretzel snack with dark chocolate, caramel and sea salt! Speaking of which, I need to get some more??
B: Snappers eh? *Orders snappers on Amazon Prime*
Are you managing to add variety to your week during lockdown?
S: Good question! It’s difficult sometimes to be honest! Exercise is an absolute must to keep your sanity, but make sure it’s not the same thing every time.
I’ve rediscovered my love for my bike and I’m grateful to live in the countryside, surrounded by fields. A nice walk up country lane is good for the brain!
B: It really is. Ok. Last one! Give me one memorable moment at Ryno?
S: Definitely has to be the laser-tag/paintball day at the end of 2019! An absolutely brilliant day which helped me get to know my new colleagues in a completely different way! (watching Beth be peppered with paintballs was probably the highlight though!)??
Nothing personal Beth – just was hilarious to watch!!
B: Ok, thanks SCOTT. Watch your back at the next one though, eh?
