South Bank, London
The London Eye runs from 10am-8pm daily, carrying a huge 3.75 million tourists over the cities main landmarks annually.
With that many visitors passing through, the ticket office well and truly have their work cut out.
Ryno were pleased to have been approached to provide custom roof trim for the re-roofing of the distinctive oval-shaped London Eye ticket office.
By working closely with the contractor, a very neat and attractive finish was achieved.
Ryno Roof Edge Trim will create a neat, unobtrusive and durable finish to the edge of any flat roof.
The Ryno Team regularly work alongside contractors on bespoke jobs but this project posed a particularly interesting challenge: especially as all modifications were completed off site
The London Eye ticket office is a very unusual oval shape, with several metal protrusions extending out above and beyond the building which suspend a large glass roof.
To make the trim fit the shape and detail of the ticket office building, the Ryno team needed to make a number of modifications to the standard Ryno glass-reinforced polyester (GRP) roof trim, A5 in white.
First, the trim was notched to make it curved. After this, parts of the fixing arm were removed to make way for the metal protrusions on the roof.
Thereafter, the trim was simple for installers to fit into place.
The custom roof trim provides the perfect finish to a newly re-waterproofed and re-insulated ticket office.
The trim is maintenance-free and will not corrode, rust or dent over time: a clear benefit at a busy tourist attraction.
Beside the functionality of the resulting trim, the finished product is a roof which perfectly complements the cladded exterior of the ticket office. The white gloss roof trim mirrors the white gloss of the London Eye and its pods, contributing to the iconic aesthetic of the attraction for decades to come.
